Finnish Lion cast in bronze.
The roots of the Suomi-Finland knife go back more than 20 years. When Finland celebrated 80 years of independence in 1997 Marttiini naturally celebrated the event by making a knife. In 2009 the design of the knife was updated. At the end of the handle is the Finnish Lion cast in bronze, and the knife carries with it the strong spirit of Finnish stamina with which our forefathers secured the independence of our nation. The Lion is also printed on the sheath.
This knife has been presented to our athletes at several Olympic Games. It is known as the Stamina Knife (Sisupuukko in Finnish) and is a token of respect for exhibiting extreme stamina and perseverance.
This knife is delivered in a wooden gift box
FEATURES :
• STAINLESS STEEL CHROME
The stainless steel used by Marttiini is an easy-to-care blade material with a long-lasting sharpness. The chromium content of the alloy is 13% and the hardness of the alloy is 53-54 Rockwell units (HRC). Diamond sharpeners are recommended for sharpening chrome steel.
• CURLY BIRCH
The traditional handle material of the Finnish knife is hard birch. The raw material comes from the Finnish birch birch zone, Central Finland. Warp patterned birch is a perfect material for knife handle because it is durable and beautiful. Due to the limited availability of this beautiful patterned birch, its price is much higher than normal birch.
• LEATHER SHEATH
Martini knife leather sheaths are made of either vegetable or chrome tanned beef leather. Leather hides are purchased from both Europe and South America. The sheaths are made of both natural and dyed leather.
Knife sheaths are still mostly handmade. Each sheath should be exactly the same size and shape to form a matching pair with the knife. The skin is cut with a model iron, and the seams are glued together before sewing. Most sheaths have a plastic mite inside which supports the sheath and protects the blade.
Sheath prints are made either on the sheath clip or on the finished sheath. Rivets and a possible bronze collar reinforce and adorn the sheath.
